A HISTORY OF MASA'S GREATNESS
Born into a beautician family in Japan, Masa Teraguchi traveled to the U.S. and Brazil as a
professional soccer player during his high school years. This experience made him set his mind
on emigrating abroad. Upon completion of his high school education, Masa began his career in
his family business: the cosmetology industry.
Highlights of Masa’s career include:
1989: Graduated from cosmetology school with a major in hair cut instruction.
1990: Moved to New York to acquire business experience.
1991: Returned to Japan and established a beauty salon.
1992 – 1993: Went on a nationwide tour of Japan as a haircut and salon management instructor.
1993: Won the Japan Beauty Culture Award, together with Aiko Yamano and Shu Uemura.
1999: Opened TERRA HAIR DESIGN, in La Jolla, California.
2005: Opened TERRA ACADEMY HAIR CUTTING SCHOOL.
2006: Started Japanese hair cutting technique seminar in the U.S.
2007: Started TERRA ACADEMY business coaching classes.
2008: Worked on stage with Orlando Pita to demonstrate T3 products and styling techniques.
2009 – 2010: Became the first Japanese business coach to hair stylists in New York.
2011 – 2013: Taught hair cutting and business coaching seminars at Hoyu Professional USA.
2014 – 2015: Leads monthly hoyu color and hair cut classes in New York.
2015: Was an on-stage demonstrator for UTSUMI Scissors at the Isse hair show in Long Beach.
2016 - 2019: Goes to New York to coach other hair stylist on there businesses.
